In order to referee a U-7 or a Fall U-8 game you must be ten years of age or older and take either:
- the U-8 Official Course (4 hours in person), or
- the Basic Referee Course (8 hours in person), or
- both the AYSO Basic Referee Online Training Course (4 hours online) AND the Basic Referee Online Companion Course (4 hours in person)
In order to be a referee or assistant referee at a U9 or U10 game or a Spring U-8 game you must be twelve years of age or older and take either:
- the Basic Referee Course (8 hours in person), or
- both the AYSO Basic Referee Online Training Course (4 hours onine) AND the Basic Referee Online Companion Course (4 hours in person)

All Referees must be currently registered as a volunteer and must have taken Safe Haven training. You must fill out the volunteer registration online before you take a course. You will not be able to take the class otherwise. Unless otherwise noted, you also need to log into eAYSO and register to take a specific class. (See step #2 below).
You need to be at least 10 years old to take the U-8 course. You need to be at least 12 years old to take either of the Basic courses.
There are no referee badges that may be completed entirely online. At least some in-person class time is required.
The live classes will be scheduled by Region 153 and posted by June 1st
